Life in the UK Test question types explained
Updated 2026-10-31 · Unofficial guide · Always confirm details with GOV.UK
The Life in the UK Test uses four multiple-choice styles: choose one answer from four, choose two answers from four, true or false, and choose the correct statement from two.
1. One answer from four
Example: What is the capital of Wales? A) Swansea B) Cardiff C) Newport D) Bangor — Answer: Cardiff.
2. Select TWO answers
Example: Which TWO are part of the UK? Answers might be Scotland and Northern Ireland (not the Isle of Man, which is a Crown dependency). You must choose both correctly.
3. True or false
Example: Is this statement true or false? "The Isle of Man is part of the UK." — False.
4. Which statement is correct?
Two similar statements; only one is right. Read the small words: "all", "only", "never".
