Question types you will see

All questions are multiple choice, but they come in a few styles: pick one correct answer from four; pick which of two statements is true; decide whether a single statement is true or false; and pick two correct answers from four. Read every question carefully — the "select two answers" questions catch many people out.

How long do you really need?

45 minutes for 24 questions is almost two minutes per question, which is generous. Most well-prepared candidates finish early. Use the spare time to review flagged questions rather than rushing out.

What the questions cover

Questions are drawn only from the official handbook: British values and principles, what the UK is, history, modern society (traditions, sport, arts, festivals) and government, law and your role. See our handbook chapter guide, or practice by handbook chapter.

Results

You get your result at the test centre. If you pass, you receive details you will need for your settlement or citizenship application — keep them safe. If you fail, you can book again (see retake guide).
